The Responsible Pet Education Program ‘Children Living Safely with Dogs’ is a program designed to engage students in Kindergarten – Year 2 and Support Unit Classes to learn how to safely interact with dogs.
Statistics find that 80% of dog attacks on children under the age of 9 are by the family’s own dog or a dog known and trusted by the family. This program aims to provide students with the strategies to help avoid an attack, as many children who are not familiar with dogs are unaware of how to react when a chance meeting may occur, such as in a park or visiting someone who owns a pet.
On Friday 31st May, 2019 and Friday 14th June, 2019, students at Yagoona Public School from Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2 and Support Unit classes will be encouraged to participate in songs, dancing and role play situations they may have when encountering dogs. This is an incursion at Yagoona Public School in the hall.
This is a FREE session and does not incur a cost.
We look forward to providing this opportunity to our students and teaching them how to behave safely around dogs and how to react when a chance meeting may occur.
